About The Sauce Foundation
The Sauce Foundation has been created to honor the legacy of writer and editor Mike Saucier by funding research into pancreatic cancer and by providing scholarships for students at Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communications.
Mike Saucier died at home on November 1, 2017, with his family by his side, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. He was the husband of Fernanda Santos Saucier, a journalist, author, and professor who is on the foundation’s board of directors, and father of Flora, a vivacious child who misses him dearly.
Mike wrote stories for a living, as a journalist and a public relations consultant. In Phoenix, he was the founder and owner of Soss Communications, a consulting business, and the proud editor of a magazine that focuses on philanthropy and giving. Prior to moving to Arizona, Mike worked as a press secretary in the administration of Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg in New York, as a foreign and city editor at The New York Sun, and as a copy editor at TheStreet.com, Boston Herald, and Naples Daily News in Florida.
Mike was beloved by everyone who knew him as a colleague, friend, son, brother, father and husband. We are honoring his legacy and impact by funding two causes close to his heart and ours: We are raising money to fund research into treatments for pancreatic cancer and foster a new generation of Mike Sauciers — kind, thoughtful storytellers with a love of friends, family, and community — through scholarships at ASU’s Cronkite School.
